On August 18, the squad won their division in the Fight Song Competition at the NCA college camp at Team USA Sports Camp in Port Jervis, NY. The squad was also awarded the "Best of the Best" trophy along with a bid to the NCA Nationals Competition for the fourth consecutive year. Junior Steve Belanger (Fairhaven, MA) was awarded "Top Gun" Tumbler and "Top Gun" Jumper, the second time he has captured both titles in three years. Junior captain Christie Cardoza (Fairhaven, MA) and freshman Jen Sargent (Raynham, MA) were selected as NCA All-Americans. Only eight All-Americans were selected from a field of 300 cheerleaders.
For the third consecutive year the team placed first in the small coed division at the 7th Annual Emmanuel College Invitational Cheerleading Competition held at Boston College High School on Sunday, November 9. UMD finished with a score of 86.5 out of a possible 100 points, followed by Bridgewater St. (79), Westfield St. (73.5), Hartford (72), and Salem St. (67).
