UMass Dartmouth Athletics and Dartmouth Community Television (DCTV)
UMass Dartmouth Athletics and Dartmouth Community Television (DCTV) have established a working partnership over the last several years, resulting the several broadcasts of Corsair sports teams throughout the year.
Using a staff of UMass Dartmouth work-study students and interns, the DCTV production team has broadcast a variety of Corsair teams in action, including football, basketball and ice hockey. The games are taped live at the field and then rebroadcast on the DCTVsystem at pre-arranged time slots throughout the week. In the last few years, copies of those game tapes have been circulated throughout Bristol County, allowing UMass Dartmouth sports fans in cities like Fall River, Acushnet, New Bedford, Fairhaven, Westport, Somerset and Swansea to see the Corairs in action.
"The relationship between our department and DCTV has been very positive," said UMass Dartmouth Athletic Director Louise Goodrum. "Of course it's a wonderful benefit for our student-athletes and their parents to watch games on television. It is also a very beneficial experience for the work study students and interns who have gained valuable experience during their work on the broadcasts."
