Alexandre SilvaWomen's Soccer Head Coach Alexandre Silva

Alexandre Silva has served as head coach of the UMass Dartmouth women’s program for 11 seasons, dating back to 1996.  During those years, his teams have a 61-110-16 record.  Silva was honored by his peers after the 2003 season by being named the Little East Conference Coach of the Year after a season which saw his team make its third consecutive appearance in the LEC Tournament.

Silva is only the second coach in the history of  women's soccer at UMass Dartmouth. He took over the program from Ray Cabral, who stepped down after the 1995 season.

Silva brought plenty of strong credentials as both a player and coach to the UMass Dartmouth women’s soccer program. Following four years of playing varsity soccer at Stoughton High School, Silva played for two seasons at Massasoit Community College in Brockton.  His teams twice played in national championship tournaments, winning both the 1986 and 1987 National Junior College Athletic Association national championship

After graduating from Massasoit Community College in 1988, Silva played semi-professional soccer for CLC Club in Stoughton from 1990 to 1993 and Taunton Sports Club in 1994.

He has also been coaching soccer at several different levels since 1989.  Silva is a member of the U.S. Soccer Federation, National Soccer Coaches Association of America and the U.S. Soccer Coaches Association.

Prior to coming to UMass Dartmouth, Silva had been the varsity soccer coach at Stoughton High since 1989. Beginning in 1996, Silva has coached with the Olympic Development Program in Rhode Island and as an assistant for the WUSISL professional team, the Rhode Island Lady Rays.  Since joining the Rays, Silva’s teams have been Rhode Island State Champions since 1998 and have participated in the Region 1 championships each season.

Silva owns his own business, Silva's Sports Soccer Specialists, in Fall River, MA.
