Lisa Cabral has been the UMass Dartmouth Cheerleading coach for six season, dating back to 1992.
During her tenure with the Corsairs, she has elevated the program to where her Corsairs are recognized as one of
the top cheerleading squads in New England. UMass Dartmouth will get its first taste of national competition during
the Spring of 1999 when the Corsairs travel to Daytona, Florida for the National Collegiate Competition. UMass
Dartmouth earned the opportunity to compete in this prestigious national event by qualifying at the National Cheerleaders
Association College Camp held in August of 1998 at Boston University.
Under Cabral's direction, UMass Dartmouth's cheerleaders have been extremely successful in competitions throughout
New England. UMass Dartmouth has received five consecutive bids for NCA Nationals and have captured three Emmanual
College Open Invitational titles and four NCA Summer Camp Division II Fight Song championships.
In addition to the team's success, Cabral's UMass Dartmouth cheerleaders have earned several national honors. Since
the 1995-96 season, Corsair cheerleaders have earned eight All-America honors along with many regional competition
honors.
Cabral coached the cheerleaders at Fairhaven High School from 1992 through 1998. Cabral's teams at Fairhaven established
themselves among the top high school cheerleading squads in the U.S. Fairhaven High's squad captured the 1995 Can-Am
High School national championship in 1995 after finishing as runners-up in 1994. Cabral's squad is a five-time
South Coast Conference champion and has captured three Massachusetts state championships.
