Jeff Feroce's association with the men's lacrosse program at UMass Dartmouth dates back to 1988 when he was part of a group of students who founded a men's lacrosse club team at then Southeastern Massachusetts University.
After serving as the club team's assistant coach from 1989-92 and head coach from 1993-97, Feroce was named UMass Dartmouth first varsity lacrosse head coach when the club team was elevated to varsity status prior to the 1998 season. In five seasons with the Corsairs, Feroce has compiled a won-loss record of 41-27 with three tournament invitations.
UMass Dartmouth posted a 4-2 record in their second season of Little East Conference men's lacrosse, advancing to the LEC Tournament championship game for the first time. Despite a loss in the LEC Tournament championships, the Corsairs were rewarded for their efforts with their first invitation to the ECAC New England Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament.
UMass Dartmouth has enjoyed four winning seasons in Feroce's first five years as a varsity program. Last season, the Corsairs debuted in the LEC with an 8-5 record and earned a spot in the LEC Tournament. During the 2000 season, UMass Dartmouth posted a 6-8 overall record and a 3-4 mark in the Corsairs' final year in the Pilgrim League's Northwest Division.
A 1993 graduate of Providence College with a Master's Degree in history, Feroce competed in varsity sports while an undergraduate student at SMU. He competed in fencing for three seasons and played one season of club lacrosse, serving as team captain during the program's first year.
Prior to taking over as the Corsairs' varsity lacrosse coach, Feroce had an impressive five-year career guiding the UMass Dartmouth club lacrosse team. UMass Dartmouth qualified for post-season play in all five seasons. Feroce was selected Pioneer League Coach of the Year in 1996.
