
Castonguay came to UMass Dartmouth at the start of the 2006 season with two years of Division III head coaching experience at Bridgewater State College and two seasons as an assistant coach at Division II Bryant University. In 2001, she guided Bridgewater State to a 9-8 overall record and a 7-3 mark in the LEC, the Bears' first finish above .500 in six seasons and was named LEC Coach of the Year for the first time in her career.
Castonguay is 2000 gradute of the University of Connecticut and a four-year Big East Academic All-Star as a member of the Huskies’ field hockey team. She brings a wealth of experience as both a coach and a player to the UMass Dartmouth program. In four seasons at UConn, Castonguay was received All America honors in 1999 when her team posted a 23-1 record, the same season she was Big East Defensive Player of the Year. She holds Big East records for most goals in a tournament game (three) and most goals in a tournament (five). An All Big East selection in both 1998 and 1999 she was the Huskies team captain both seasons and was UConn’s starting sweeper for three straight Big East Champions as well for two consecutive Final Four teams.
Castonguay added to her lengthy resume of athletic accomplishments in 2006 when she was inducted into the Somerset (MA) High School Hall of Fame in the first year of eligibility.
