Warren Preti is entering his 10th season as the head men's tennis coach at UMass Dartmouth with a record of 76-26
and a string of three consecutive Little East Conference (LEC) men's tennis championships dating back to 1996.
Preti also serves as the Corsairs' women's team and has also captured three consecutive LEC women's championships
since 1996.
A former college standout tennis player from 1964 through 1968 at Bridgewater State College, Preti has turned UMass
Dartmouth's men's tennis program into one of the most successful programs in New England. During the last three
seasons, in which UMass Dartmouth has successfully defended its LEC championship twice, Preti's teams have compiled
an overall record of 32-2 in dual matches. UMass Dartmouth's men's players have captured 17 of 18 LEC singles
championships and seven of the nine LEC doubles championships during that three-year period.
Preti has also coached the top men's singles player in the LEC for the last four seasons. Since 1995, the #1 singles
champion in the LEC has been a UMass Dartmouth Corsair. The list of #1 singles title holders includes Felipe Miguel
in 1995, David Kreiss in 1996 and a two-time #1 singles champion in the LEC, John Guilfoy in 1997 and 1998.
UMass Dartmouth men's team posted a perfect 11-0 record in dual matches during the 1998 season, the first undefeated
team in men's tennis since the Corsairs went 8-0 back in 1972.
Preti is joined by assistant coach Pat Riccardi, who has been with UMass Dartmouth for eight seasons. Riccardi
is an accomplished singles and doubles player in NELTA circles. Riccardi works with players on stroke mechanics
and production, while Preti stresses conditioning and the mental aspects of the game.
