Salve Regina’s Cassandra Leone scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner at the 10:58 minute mark of overtime to give SRU a 3-2 non-conference victory over UMass Dartmouth on Thursday. The victory improves Salve Regina’s record to 4-12, while the Corsairs fell to 0-17 in their final game of the season.
Salve Regina’s Courtney Ramig scored the game-tying goal with 5:59 left in regulation to force the game into overtime where Leone scored the game-winner with an assist from Cara Dunn. UMass Dartmouth had jumped out to a 2-0 first half lead on unassisted goals by Lauren Izzicupo and Kim Belya. Leone’s first goal, late in the opening half, cut the Salve Regina deficit to 2-1 at the break.
