UMass Dartmouth�s strong defensive unit held a good Western New England College team
to just 137 yards of total offense in a 24-7 win on the North Dartmouth Campus in
front of a large homecoming crowd. The Corsairs have won five consecutive contests
raising its record to 5-1(4-0 NEFC) Western New England fall to 3-3 (2-3 NEFC). UMass
Darmouth put extreme pressure on freshman QB Matt Southerden (Pleasantville, NY)
sacking him six times for 52 yards and forcing 1 interception. Junior wideout Shane
Harris(Marion, MA) caught two touch down passes of 18 and 32 yards from senior Matt
McLaughlin (Mansfield, MA) to lead the UMass Dartmouth attack. Junior Frank Femino
(Medford, MA) rushed 24 yards for a third UMass Dartmouth touchdown, junior place
kicker Jacob Jata (Port Richey, FL) notched a 37 yard field goal to round out the
corsair scoring all in the first half of play. Western New England scored first
on a Marvin Langley (Lewiston, ME) 1 yd run for the Golden Bears only tally of the
afternoon.
