The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth stopped a good Bridgewater State College team by the score of 43-13 earning its 5 th victory of the season against just two loses. Rival Bridgewater State Colleges record drops to 3-4 on the season. Sophomore quarterback Val Teixeira (Dorchester, MA) tossed three touchdown passes in the first half, which catapulted the Corsairs to 34-0 half time advantage. Teixeira was 10 for 13 on the day for 233 yards in his first varsity start. Teixeira hit three different receivers in the second quarter to put the contest out of reach. Junior Joe Sabina (Taunton, MA) was on the receiving end of a 73 yd touchdown pass from teixeira, Sabina also returned a second quarter punt 54 yards for another score. The Corsair offensive racked up 448 yards of total offensive on the day. The stanch UMass Dartmouth defense held Bridgewater State to just 233 yards of total offense only 92 of that total was on the ground. Defensive end Phil Rashkovetsky (Newton, MA) had ten tackles, 8 solo, to lead the Corsair defense.
