FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                       February 10, 2005

UMass Dartmouth will try to extend its winning streak
to 9 straight on Senior Day vs. Lebanon Valley, Feb. 12

(Dartmouth, MA) - Coming off a 5-3 ECAC Northeast victory over first-place Wentworth Institute
on Wednesday night, UMass Dartmouth's ice hockey team will try to extend its current winning
streak to nine straight when the Corsairs host Lebanon Valley College (4-15-1, 1-8 ECAC Div. III West)
in a non-conference game this Saturday afternoon. Game time at Hetland Arena in New Bedford is 4:30 pm

With the win over Wentworth, UMass Dartmouth improved to 15-4-0 overall and 10-1-0 within the
ECAC Northeast. The Corsairs trail Curry College (12-5-3, 10-0-1 ECAC NE) and
Wentworth (13-8-1, 10-1-1 ECAC NE) as they head into the final weeks of the season.
Coach John Rolli's Corsairs have five regular season games remaining, including ECAC NE
games against Nichols (Feb. 16), Johnson and Wales (Feb. 18), Suffolk (Feb. 20) and Assumption (Feb. 22).

The top four teams in the ECAC Northeast regular season standings will host first round games in
the ECAC NE Tournament, beginning Saturday, Feb. 26. Second round games are hosted by the highest
remaining teams on Wednesday, March 1. The ECAC NE Tournament Championship game is hosted
by the highest remaining seed left in the tournament and is played on Saturday, March 5 with the winner
automatically qualifying for the NCAA Division III national tournament.

With a goal against Wentworth on Wednesday night, Eric Frank (Waltham, MA) was able to build on his
lead among NCAA Division III players in points per game. Through games played Feb. 6 in statistics compiled
by the NCAA this season, Frank had 18 goals and 24 assists for 42 points, a nation-leading 2.47 points per
game average.  His 18 goals in 17 games ranked his third overall with 1.06 goals per game and his 24 assists l
eft him second in assists per game at 1.41. Including the Wentworth game on Wednesday, Frank leads the
ECAC NE with 43 points on 19 goals and 24 assists for 43 points.  His 2.39 points per game are more than
half a point per game better than the next closest player.

The Wentworth game was also significant for the return of Scott Trahan (Chelmsford, MA). After being sidelined
with an injury last month, Trahan returned to the lineup this week and scored a goal in his first game back.
Despite missing a handful of recent games, Trahan is still tied for fourth in ECAC NE scoring with 13 goals
and 14 assists for 27 points, an average of 1.93 points per game.

Another reason for the Corsairs' recent hot streak has been the play of goalie Kevin McGowan (Hingham, MA).
Selected as the ECAC NE Goalie of the Week this week for the second time in the last three weeks,
McGowan's been the backbone of the Corsairs' winning streak, allowing only 13 goals in eight games to
improve his goals against average to 2.74, second best in the ECAC NE. His 15-4-0 won-loss record places
him atop all the conference goalies with a winning percentage of .789.

Game notes: The Corsairs will be saluting five seniors who have reached the homestretch season and their
careers at UMD.  Entering Saturday's game these players, as they prepare for their fourth consecutive trip to
the ECAC Northeast playoffs, look to improve on a four year record of 65 wins 25 losses and 5 ties for a .711
winning percentage.

Senior goalie Marc Barron played high school hockey for Hanover High school followed by a year with the
Boston Harborwolves in the Eastern Junior Hockey League, now resides with his family in Marshfield, MA.
Prior to coming to UMD, Marc backstopped his Hanover HS team to a State Championship.  While his career at
UMD has been marked with illness and injury, his perseverance and dedication to his teammates is
unparalleled in UMD Hockey history.

Shane Relihan was a New Bedford High School standout also played in the Eastern Junior League with the
Bridgewater Bandits.  He began his career at Mercyhurst College in the Division I Atlantic Hockey League
where in three seasons he played in 53 games including an appearance in the NCAA Division I tournament
at Minnesota.  To finish out his career he has returned home to New Bedford in fine fashion netting 11 goals,
four on the power play, and 16 assists for 27 points.

A resident of Chelmsford, MA assistant captain Trahan completed a post graduate year at Avon Old Farms,
played in the Eastern Junior League for the Tyngsboro Huskies, and in the Division I Atlantic Hockey League
at Bentley College before arriving at UMass Dartmouth.  Entering this season Scott had played in 46 games
tallying 16 goals (9 on the power play) and 33 assists for 49 points. Despite a mid-season injury,
Scott has 13 goals (7 on the power play) and 14 assists for 27 points in just 14 games to lead the nation
in points and points per game.

Co-captain Brandon Koziara is a resident of West Springfield and played hockey at Cathedral High School.
The only member of this class to come the UMD directly from high school, Brandon started his career with
the Corsairs as a center iceman where in two seasons he totaled 13 goals and 16 assists for 29 points.
Last year as well as this season, Brandon has manned the blue line for UMD notching 7 goals and 24 assists
for 31 points for career totals of 20 goals and 40 assists for 60 points in 93 games.

McGowan came to UMass Dartmouth following a post graduate year at Trinity Pawling school in New York.
As a freshman he unexpectedly became the Corsairs netminder and responded by being named the
ECAC all-rookie goalie in winning 18 of 21 starts.  His 49 career wins places Kevin in third amongst all
UMD goalies, and his career record of 49-13-1 for a .785 winning percentage puts him fourth.
His 15 wins on the season places him at the top of all goalies this season in the ECAC Northeast
