UMass Dartmouth's Eric Frank selected to Second Team
Division III CCM Ice Hockey All-America squad;
Rolli named finalist for Jeremiah Coach of the Year Award
(Dartmouth, MA) - UMass Dartmouth junior forward Eric Frank (Waltham, MA) has been named a Second Team Division III CCM Ice Hockey All-America selection by the America Hockey Coaches' Association (AHCA). The announcement was made Friday at the NCAA Division III Frozen Four being played in Middlebury, Vermont.
The ECAC Northeast Player of the Year and a conference first team selection,
Frank was the top point scorer nationally within NCAA Division III and the ECAC Northeast. In 26 games for UMass Dartmouth, Frank scored 24 goals and 35 assists for 59 points, an average of 2.27 points per game. Frank was also second in the ECAC NE in goal scoring and third nationally at 0.92 goals per game. He was second in the conference and third nationally in assists with 1.35 assists per game. Frank also topped the ECAC NE in power play points (9-14-23) and was tied for third in power play goals (nine).
Frank was a key member of an explosive UMass Dartmouth offense which led the Corsairs to a 22-5 overall record, including a 15-game winning streak which carried them into the ECAC Northeast championship game.
"Eric Frank had a phenomenal year for us," said UMass Dartmouth coach John Rolli. "When Scott Trahan went down with the knee injury in January, Frank just stepped up his game along with the whole team. For those who were watching him, you couldn't help but notice that he's blessed with the kinds of offensive skills that few players have. This was clearly a break out season for him."
In other collegiate hockey news announced at the Division III Frozen Four today, UMass Dartmouth hockey coach John Rolli was named as a finalist for the Eddie Jeremiah Award given annually to the College Division (NCAA Division III) Men’s Ice Hockey Coach of the Year. Named in honor of the former Dartmouth head coach, the Jeremiah Award will be presented at the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Coach of the Year Banquet on Saturday, April 23, in Naples, FL.
To be a finalist for this award, you must either be voted Coach of the Year in your conference or take your team to the NCAA Frozen Four. Rolli earned ECAC Northeast Co-Coach of the Year honors earlier this month after leading his Corsairs to a 22-5 overall record.
