#5 UMass Dartmouth reaches Little East Conference
semi-finals vs. top-seeded Western Conn., Feb. 25
(Dartmouth, MA) - UMass Dartmouth's men's basketball team will try to extend its
longest winning streak of the season to five straight when the fifth-seeded Corsairs (13-13 overall)
take on top-seeded Western Connecticut in the second of two Little East Conference Tournament
semi-final round games on Friday, Feb. 25. Game time is 8 p.m. at the O'Neill Center on the
Western Conn. campus.
The LEC Tournament is being hosted by Western Connecticut State University this weekend
with the two LEC semi-final round winners from Friday night meeting in the LEC Tournament
Championship on Saturday, Feb. 26. In the first semi-final round game on Friday at 6 pm,
#3 Plymouth State University (18-8 overall) will take on #2 Rhode Island College (18-7 overall).
The LEC Tournament champion earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Division IIII men's
basketball tournament.
UMass Dartmouth advanced to the LEC Tournament semi-final round game by upsetting #4
Keene State College, 89-82, in an LEC First Round game at Keene, NH on Tuesday night.
The win ran the Corsairs' winning streak to four straight as Coach Brian Baptiste's team enters
the LEC Tournament playing some of its best basketball of the 2004-05 season.
After dropping an 83-61 LEC decision to RIC on Feb.8, the Corsairs fell to 9-13 overall and 4-8 in
the LEC. Since that game, however, Baptiste has been able to turn things around as his team
has posted four straight wins heading into the LEC semi-finals. Chris Lapriore (Grafton, MA)
helped start the streak with 26 points and 13 rebounds in an 83-74 win over Eastern Connecticut.
Lapriore had a career night in an 85-77 win at UMass Boston, scoring 35 points with 13 rebounds.
A Little East Conference First Team All-Star last season, Lapriore (18.3 points, 7.4 reb average)

just getting warmed up for the Corsair's first round LEC Tournament game at Keene State.
While the Owls limited Lapriore to 16 points, Britto (14.4 points, 5.4 reb average) provided all
the offense UMass Dartmouth needed. In 32 minutes, Britto hit on 11-24 shots from the field,
including 3-6 from three-point range and 3-4 from the free-throw line for a game-high 28 points.
He also had a game-high 11 rebounds plus a pair of assists and a blocked shot.
Josh Adamec (Norwich, CT) added 12 points, including a pair of clutch free throws down the stretch,
and Paul Pawlowski (Taunton, MA) added 10 points and six rebounds.
UMass Dartmouth split its season series with the LEC regular season champions from
Western Connecticut, dropping at 89-71 decision in Danbury, CT on Feb. 5 after surprising the
Colonials, 75-73, in a game played at the Tripp Center on Jan. 8. The Corsairs' got several big
finale over Southern Maine.
