Assistant Coach Deon Barrett
Deon Barrett begins his second year as an assistant coach for the men's and women's cross country teams. A Division III All-American while at UMass Dartmouth, and a member of the Corsair Hall of Fame, Barrett has personal bests of 14:50 for 5K, 24:50 for 8K and 30:37 for 10K. Very competitive on the New England regional level as a member of the BAA, Barrett has the competitive range to provide a broad background of experience to his coaching duties. In his first season he proved to be a welcomed and valuable addition to the cross country program.
2006 Assistant Track and Field Coach
Vic Morency
The top thrower in the discuss, shot and javelin ever at UMass Amherst, Vic Morency returns for his third year as an assistant track and field coach at UMass Dartmouth. As a competitor at UMass Amherst, Morency competed within the Atlantic 10 and was a Division I All-America selection and also an Olympic Trials qualifier in the discus in 2000. The throwing group all registered personal bests in 2005, and two of his throwers participated in the NCAA Division III national championships with javelin thrower Bruce Zapasnik finishing second in the nation with a school record throw.
