               SIGISMONDO, CORSAIRS SECOND AT ECAC D3 NE CHAMPIONSHIPS

HAMPDEN, MA- Junior Mike Sigismundo (Shrewsbury, MA/Shrewsbury HS) shot a two-over par 74 to lead the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men’s golf team to a second place finish at Tuesday’s Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division III New England Men’s Golf Championships at the Hampden Country Club.

Shrewsbury finished one shot behind the medalist, Sean LaBelle of Salem State, and the Corsairs finished five strokes behind the Vikings with a team score of 311 compared to SSU’s 306. The field included 19 teams and the tournament was hosted by Springfield College.

Juniors Mike Morgan (Dartmouth, MA/Dartmouth HS) and Jon Camara (Acushnet, MA/Bishop Stang HS) each shot a 78 and finished in a tie for 11^th place. Morgan was the medalist at the Williams Invitational last weekend.

UMD’s Kyle Pelletier (So. Acushnet, MA/Bishop Stang HS) shot an 81, tying him for 37^th place. Brendan Livingston shot an 88 and tied for 71^st.

“I thought we played very well,” said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Paul Fistori. “Our guys played their hearts out. They held on and finished strong in a good field. Mike Sigismondo played his best round of the year.”

UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they host an invitational meet on Wednesday, October 12^th.
