CORSAIRS 18TH AFTER FIRST ROUND OF NEIGA CHAMPIONSHIPS
BREWSTER, MA- Junior Mike Sigismondo (Shrewsbury, MA/Shrewsbury HS) shot a three-over par 75 to tie for 13th to lead the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men’s golf team, which is in 18th place after the first round of the 36-hole, 45-team New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship, at the Captains Golf Course.
Sigismondo is six strokes behind the leader, Jason Parajeckas of Connecticut, who shot a 69. The Corsairs shot a team total of 324. The University of Rhode Island is in first place with a score of 294.
The tournament includes teams from all three NCAA divisions. There are 24 NCAA Division III teams entered, and UMass Dartmouth ranks sixth among Division III teams.
UMD’s Kyle Pelletier (So. Acushnet, MA/Bishop Stang HS) shot an 80 and is tied for 53rd place. Junior Mike Morgan (Dartmouth, MA/Dartmouth HS) shot an 83 and is tied for 99th, junior Jon Camara (Acushnet, MA/Bishop Stang HS) shot an 86 and is tied for 146th, and Brendan Livingston shot an 89 and is tied for 181st.
“It was a wild and windy day, and the scores were pretty high,” said UMD Head Coach Paul Fistori. “Hopefully, we’ll shoot better tomorrow.”
The tournament will conclude Tuesday.
