CORSAIRS 4TH, 5TH AT LEC; 5TH, 8TH AT ALLIANCE INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
GORHAM, ME-Two members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth’s indoor track and field team set school records as the Corsair men finished fourth and the women finished fifth at the Little East Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, which concluded late Monday night at Southern Maine’s Costello Sports Complex.

UMD’s men finished fourth of five teams with 65 points in the conference meet.
The women finished fifth in the five-team LEC field with 14 ½ points. Southern Maine won with 262 ½ points, followed by Keene State with 156, ECSU with 42 points and RIC with 34. They were eighth in the eight-team

For the women, Malloy also participated as a member of the 4 X 200 meter relay team, which finished fifth in 1:59.69. Sophomore Leanne Nygaard (Medway, MA/Medway HS) was fifth at 800 meters in 2:28.92, while sophomore Alicia Malloy (Agawam, MA/Agawam HS) was seventh in the high jump (4-8) and was on the relay team, which also included freshman Lenora Dorleh (Brockton, MA/Brockton HS) and sophomore Deanna Bealby (Peterborough, NH/Contocook Valley Regional HS). Bealby was seventh in the 55-meter hurdles (9.95 seconds), while Dorleh was sixth in the triple jump (31-6 ½).
”We did well, considering the fact that we had to leave some people home because of academic commitments,” said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Jon Hird. “Our women had six season best performances, and the men had 10. We peaked at the right time.”
The Corsairs will return to action at the New England Division III Championships this Saturday.
