CORSAIR SWIMMERS FALL TO PROVIDENCE AND SACRED HEART

PROVIDENCE, RI-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth’s swimming teams dropped both ends of their meet against host Providence and Sacred Heart at Taylor Natatorium Saturday.
The Corsair women lost to Providence, 73-29, and fell to Sacred Heart, 69-30. The UMD men lost to Providence, 151-110.
UMass Dartmouth’s women won three events.
Senior Seanna McRae (East Taunton, MA/Taunton HS) won the 200 individual medley in 2:42.35, while junior Meagan Coache (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford HS) won twice, taking the 100 butterfly in 1:10.20, and the 50 butterfly in 31.52 seconds.
The men won five events. Sophomore George Aulson (Peabody, MA/Peabody HS) won the one-meter diving (150.00 points), senior Gino Leite (Fall River, MA/Durfee HS) won the 200 individual medley in 2:27.21 and the 1000 butterfly in 1:06.36, sophomore Frank Pearson (Niantic, CT/East Lyme HS) won the 400 freestyle in 4:47.93, and senior Jay Brinley (Melrose, MA/Boston College HS) won the 50 butterfly in 30.45 seconds.
“It’s been a long, hard week,” said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Cathy Motta. “We’re tired, and we’re looking forward to getting a rest and returning to action next weekend.”
The UMD women fell to 8-4, while the men fell to 5-5. The Corsairs will return to action when they host Wheaton Friday evening.
