Game notes: Senior Jen Ayotte (Swansea, MA) threw a five-inning no- hitter and added two hits of her own to lead UMass Dartmouth to a season-opening 11-0 victory over Massachusetts Maritime Academy in a game played Tuesday afternoon at UMass Dartmouth. Ayotte went five innings, allowing no hits with one walk, one hit batter and one strikeout. She was also 2-2 at bat as the Corsairs scored 11 runs on six hits in their first game of the 2004 season.  The game was called after five innings under the 10-run mercy rule. Amanda Tavares (Dartmouth, MA) was 1-2 with 3 rbi, including a two-run double as part of a three-run first inning for the Corsairs.

 

The game was moved from Mass. Maritime to UMass Dartmouth due to unplayable field conditions at MMA. UMass Dartmouth was the visiting team......The victory was UMass Dartmouth Ralph Perry's first as the Corsairs' softball coach.
