Little East Conference names UMass Dartmouth's Ashley Chard
Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, Augenstein makes Honor Roll
UMass Dartmouth first-year guard Ashley Chard was named
Little East Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week Monday afternoon.
A resident of Burlington, CT, Chard led the Corsairs to a 2-1 week by
averaging 11 points and 4.6 rebounds with three steals and an assist.
She was in double figures again as UMass Dartmouth dropped an 85-80 }
LEC decision to Plymouth State last Saturday with 11 points, plus four
rebounds and a steal. In eight games this season, Chard is averaging
8 points and 2.6 rebounds per game in her first season with
Coach Mick Klitzner's Corsair (4-4 overall, 0-2 LEC).
UMass Dartmouth junior guard Kerry Augenstein (East Greenwich, RI)
received Honor Roll distinction from the LEC as well. In three games
last week, Augenstein averaged 20 points plus four rebounds, including a
team high 24 points in a 74-68 non-conference win over Wentworth Institute
last week. Augenstein is second in scoring for the Corsairs with
an 11.8 points per game average along with a 3.5 rebounds per game average
and 12 steals.
UMass Dartmouth wraps up the Fall semester portion of its schedule on
Wednesday night when the Corsairs travel to Providence, RI for a
non-confernece game at Johnson and Wales University.
Game time is 5:30 pm. The UMass Dartmouth's men's basektball team
(3-4 overall, 0-2 LEC) will also play Johnson and Wales University
Wednesday night following the women's game.
