UMass Dartmouth's Lindsay Marsh named
Little East Conference Rookie of the Week
(Dartmouth, MA) - UMass Dartmouth first-year forward Lindsay Marsh (Bristol, CT) was
named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday for her performances
in three Corsair women's basketball games last week.
In those three games for Coach Mick Klitzner's Corsairs, March averaged 19.3 points and
5.6 rebounds per game as UMass Dartmouth went 1-2 on the week. Marsh was in double
figures in each of the Corsairs' games, including a career-high 25 points on 11-15 shooting
and four rebounds in a 79-42 in over Russell Sage College on Feb. 10. Two days later,
Marsh had 16 points on 7-16 shooting and seven rebounds in an 88-64 LEC loss to Eastern
Connecticut. Marsh opened her week with 17 points on 8-18 shooting and six rebounds in
a 64-53 LEC loss to RIC on Feb. 8.
In her first season with Coach Mick Klitzner's Corsairs, Marsh has been an important role
player in UMass Dartmouth's 12-11 overall record, 4-8 for sixth place in the LEC. In 17 games
for the Corsairs, Marsh has averaged 7.7 points per game and 3.6 rebounds in her 18 minutes
on average per game. She is shooting 41.9% from the floor (54-129) and is 22-33 (.667%) from
the free throw line with 13 blocks and 16 steals.
Marsh is the third first-year player for the Corsairs to earn LEC Rookie of the Week honors.
Forward Lisa Satkevich (Quincy, MA) has twice received the award (Jan. 10, Jan. 31) and
guard Ashley Chard (Burlington, CT) also received the award (Dec. 13).
UMass Dartmouth has a pair of LEC games remaining this week, including at UMass Boston
on Feb. 15 and home to nationally-ranked Southern Maine on Saturdays, Feb. 19.
Depending on where the Corsairs' finish in the LEC regular standing will determine where
UMass Dartmouth will open LEC Tournament action next Tuesday, Feb. 22.
