As a sophomore, Berger moved over from the shooting-guard position to point guard. Berger connected on 35 of 109 threes (32%) to lead the Corsairs, while also hitting 34% from the floor (103-305). As UMass Dartmouth's leading scorer with an average of 11.75 points per game, Berger finished eighth in the LEC scoring race and sixth among LEC assist leaders with an average of 3.4 assists per game. "We are looking for her to provide some very important leadership on the court," said Houtman. In 25 games as a freshman, Berger averaged 9 points and 4 rebounds per game, while handing out a team-high 68 assists. Her 26 steals were third on the team and she shot 34% from the floor (78-232) and was the Corsairs' top 3-point shooter, connecting on 34% from three-point range (29-85), sixth in the Little East Conference. Berger shot 66% from the free throw line (41-62). Berger enjoyed an outstanding high school career at Bourne High School as a three-year starter. A two-sport student-athlete for the Corsairs for two seasons, Berger compiled an 11-1 record as a singles player for UMass Dartmouth�s tennis team and a 10-2 record in doubles and was part of the All-LEC championship team at second doubles. This season, Berger was 8-0 in singles, 4-2 in doubles and captured the LEC #3 singles championship and the LEC #1 doubles title as well. |
