BOSTON, MAKelly Fitts netted a goal for the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women’s soccer team to break a 67:24 scoreless tie and help lead it to a 2-0 victory over host University of Massachusetts Boston this afternoon in a Little East Conference match at the Clark Athletic Center on the campus of UMass Boston.  The Beacons fall to 2-8-1 overall and 0-4-0 in the LEC, while the Corsairs improve to 4-7-0 and 1-3-0.

Jackie Erbafina found Fitts for the match’s first score at 67:24 when Fitts’ shot ricocheted off a UMB defender and caught the Beacons’ keeper by surprise.  UMass Dartmouth tacked on an addition goal just a little over four minutes later when Maura Armstrong took a cross from Ashley Losi at 71:32 and scored.

UMass Boston junior keeper Denise B. Ridge (Milton, MA) stopped 17 shots on the day, while Shawna Howell made seven saves to earn the shutout for the Corsairs.  UMass Dartmouth held a 28-10 shot advantage.

The Beacons will be in action again on Saturday, October 15 when they travel to Willimantic, CT to take on Little East Conference foe Eastern Connecticut State University at 1:00 p.m., while the Corsairs will travel to take on Wentworth Institute of Technology on Sunday, October 9 at 6:00 p.m.
