                                  UMD WOMEN’S TENNIS TEAM FALLS AT JOHNSON AND WALES, 5-4

PROVIDENCE, RI-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth’s women’s tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision to host Johnson & Wales at the Wildcats’ campus tennis facility Friday.

Kate Rice of JWU defeated the Corsairs’ freshman Allison De Angelis (Milford, MA/Milford HS) in a super tiebreaker in the deciding match at number six singles, 4-6, 7-5, (10-8).

The Corsairs fell to 3-4 with the defeat. They will host Bridgewater State Saturday.

DOUBLES-1-Noelle Judd and Becky Bullock, UMD, defeated Clo Niangara and Taylor Krickle, 8-6.

                   2-Jess Cullen and Olivia Malhant, JWU, defeated Katie Haepers and Nicole Cross, 8-4.

                   3-Kellie Ryan and Ariel Ferrara, JWU, defeated Allison DeAngelis and Natasha Tretter, 8-6.

SINGLES-1-Judd, UMD, defeated Krickle, 6-2, 6-0.

                 2-Malhart, JWU, defeated Bullock, 6-3, 6-0.

                 3-Haepers, UMD, defeated Cullen, 6-2, 6-0.

                 4-Cross, UMD, defeated Niangara, 6-4, 6-2.

                 5-Ariel Ferrara, JWU, defeated Tretter, 6-0, 6-1.

                 6-Kate Rice, JWU, defeated DeAngelis, 4-6, 7-5, (10-8).
