                    CORSAIRS FOURTH AT BRIDGEWATER STATE HALLOWEEN CLASSIC

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth’s volleyball team made their final tune-up before the conference playoffs a successful one.

The Corsairs won twice Saturday at the Bridgewater State Halloween Classic and finished fourth overall. UMD defeated Eastern Nazarene in three games Saturday, 33-31, 30-22 and 30-20, then downed Hunter, 30-17, 30-17 and 30-27.

Friday, the Corsairs lost to host Bridgewater State in three games, 30-16, 30-26 and 30-17, then defeated New England in three games, 30-18, 30-24 and 30-16.

Saturday, freshman middle blocker Hilary Teichart (Bourne, MA/Bourne HS) had 15 kills and six blocks against Eastern Nazarene, and eight kills against Hunter. Teichart was UMass Dartmouth’s representative on the All-Tournament Team.

Junior setter Lauren Daly (Brockton, MA/Brockton HS) had 32 assists against ENC, and nine kills and four aces against Hunter. Freshman libero Aly Zagame (Greenfield, MA/Greenfield HS) had 43 digs in the two matches, senior outside hitter Kerrie Mandeville (Walpole, MA/Walpole HS) had 10 kills against Eastern Nazarene, and sophomore middle hitter Nazareth Cardoso (Brockton, MA/Brockton HS) had nine kills against Hunter.

UMass Dartmouth improved to 17-14 for the season. They will play at Rhode Island College Tuesday evening in a Little East Conference playoff match.
