CORSAIRS FALL TO RIVIER IN THREE GAMES

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Rivier jumped out early in each game and went on to a 30-20, 30-20, 30-24 over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth volleyball team on Senior Night at the Tripp Athletic Center Thursday evening.

Freshman middle blocker Hilary Teichart (Bourne, MA/Bourne HS) led the Corsairs with nine kills. Freshman libero Aly Zagame (Greenfield, MA/Greenfield HS) had 14 digs, senior libero Damara Moses (Dartmouth, MA/Dartmouth HS) had 10 digs, and junior setter Lauren Daly (Brockton, MA/Brockton HS) added 21 assists.

Marissa Macro led RC with 11 kills and seven service aces. Danielle Rogers had nine kills, 15 digs and two blocks, while Lindsay Marshall added 21 digs.

“We fell behind in a game that was a lot faster paced than what we’re used to, and it’s hard to catch up,” said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Jocelyn Costa. “You really have to stay within four or five points in order to catch up. You can’t let the other team make a run, and get six or seven points at a time.”

Moses and UMD’s other graduating senior, middle blocker Kerrie Mandeville (Walpole, MA/Walpole HS), were honored prior to the match.

UMD dropped to 12-12 with the defeat, while Rivier improved to 20-8 with the victory. The Corsairs will return to action when they play Western Connecticut State and Keene State at UMass Boston Saturday.
