Student Senate

Get involved! If you have an issue you want Student Senate to address, or are interested in becoming a Student Representative, try to attend one of our committee meetings:
Public Relations: Mondays @ 3pm
(Chaired by Corr. Sec. Mark Realbuto)

The public relations committee is responsible for all issues related to Senate publicity, including but not limited to advertising, correspondence with the campus community and specifically SROs, fundraising, cultural affairs, advertisement of senate vacancies, and guest speakers.

 Dining & Campus Services: Wednesdays @ 2pm

The Dining and Campus Services Committee is the student voice for any concerns regarding the all dining services on campus. In addition, they also serve as the student voice regarding other student services on the campus. These include but are not limited to student life, student rights, health services, and cultural affairs.

Policy Committee Hard at Work

The Policy Committee is responsible for reviewing university policy and working with the appropriate members of the administration to revise such policies to better serve student interests and concerns. The jurisdiction of this committee is very broad and includes judicial matters, admissions, financial aide, grading policy, and much more. The committee is also responsible for reviewing and revising the Student Senate constitution as necessary.

 

Library Research & Technology:Thursdays @ 2pm

The Library, Research, and Technology Committee is responsible for acting on student concerns regarding research on the campus. This includes any concerns with the library, books, computers, and the research building.

Public Safety: Fridays @ 2:07pm

The Public Safety Committee works with the Department of Public Safety and, when necessary, other faculty, staff, and administrators to confront and find solutions to all concerns with public safety on the campus.

Housing & Facilities:Fridays @ 3pm
(Co-chaired by Senators Matt Hoyt & Peju Owoyemi)

The Housing and Facilities Committee addresses any and all student concerns related to the physical buildings on campus whether under the jurisdiction of the Office of Housing and Residential Life or Facilities. These include but are not limited to issues concerning structural soundness, locations of offices and facilities on campus, energy use, access for the disabled, construction projects, general upkeep, and any and all other concerns that might require greater cooperation between the two offices concerned.

Finance:Fridays @ 4:04pm

The Finance Committee aims to support the needs and interests of the student body by providing adequate funding to groups, projects, and events. Senators on this committee also work with Senate Recognized Groups, helping them understand budget requests and reports.
