"Even as a mother protects with her life her child, her only child, so with a boundless heart, should one cherish all living beings." ~From the Karaniya Metta Sutta

Welcome to Buddhist Campus Ministry at UMass Dartmouth! The Buddhist traditions are diverse - so diverse that some would say Buddhism is not one religion, just as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are three different religions with certain common roots and overlapping features. While it is good to settle into one practice and go as deeply as one can go, a great deal can be learned by exploring other traditions as well.
Buddhist Campus Ministry seeks to introduce interested students, faculty, and staff to Buddhist teachings and practice. Additionally, our gatherings are an opportunity to cultivate community with like-minded individuals. If there is interest, it may also be possible to arrange visits to different temples in the area to broaden our understanding of the various Buddhist traditions available to us in this part of the country.
