Division of Student Affairs

A Message from the
Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs

We are here for you! The Division of Student Affairs (DOSA) is comprised of 17 departments ranging from Athletics to the Women's Resource Center, and represents more than 300 people. We are dedicated to delivering programs and services that assist you to achieve your full potential, and we are here to support your transformation to be the best citizen leader in your area of interest. As administrators, educators, advisors, advocates and coaches, we strive to provide a total-learning environment that promotes academic success, personal growth, leadership development, social responsibility, student empowerment, and holistic well-being in the intellectual, social, cultural, spiritual, emotional, career, and physical realms.

Our Faculty

Attending college is a very important transition stage in your life, and for your family as well. It can be a time of extremes and contradictions; a time of incredible excitement and a time of anxiety and confusion; a time of experiencing strong self-confidence and independence and a time of experiencing insecurities and dependence; a time of elation for the new beginnings, and a time of grieving the life you left behind.

This kind of emotional roller coaster that many of you experience is absolutely normal, and UMass Dartmouth is a community that knows how to help you through this important transitional period. You don't have to do it alone. There are incredibly talented and dedicated student leaders, staff, administrators, and faculty in this total-learning community who are here to assist as needed. Please do check us out by the various links on this web site; better still, come and see us in person. Many of us have office hours and can always be seen by appointment. I personally set aside an office hour every day from 4-5pm to meet with students without appointment. So drop by and let me know how you are doing and what would be helpful for you.

On behalf of my Student Affairs colleagues and myself, we are very glad that you are our students. We look forward to partnering with you to achieve your dreams and aspirations.

Warm regards,

Dr. Jean Kim
