ORIENTATION CALENDAR


Wednesday, February 22, 2012          -Applications Available

Friday, March 9, 2012                       -All Orientation Staff Application Materials Due

Sunday, April 1, 2012                    -Group Process for All Candidates

Wednesday, April 4, 2012              -Individual Candidate Interviews Begin

(Notification will be sent to candidates to sign up for an interview in the SAIL Office.)

Week of April 16, 2012            -Employment Notification to Candidates

Tuesday, May 1, 2012            -Orientation Staff Spring Meeting

Sunday, June 3, 2012             -2012 June Orientation Staff Training Begins

Wednesday, June 30, 2012      -2012 June Orientation Staff Employment Ends

Thursday, August 25, 2012      -2012 Fall Orientation Staff Training Begins - Tentative

Monday, September 2, 2012     -Student move in

Tuesday/Weds, September 3/4, 2012 -1st, 2nd day of Orientation


ORIENTATION LEADER POSITION DESCRIPTION


The position of New student Orientation Leader/Family Orientation Leader (OL) is one that allows a student to make a

real contribution to entering studentsand their families, in addition to the University.  Orientation Leaders help new students and their

families make a positive transition to UMass Dartmouth.  Orientation Leaders are some of the best informed students at UMass Dartmouth

and will become a part of a close-knit, dynamic, and select group of student leaders.  Serving as facilitators, hosts, and resources for

first-year students, transfer students and families, Orientation Leaders are an integral part of the Orientation program. 

The Orientation Leader position affords individuals an opportunity to improve their self confidence,communication skills, and leadership abilities. 

The Orientation Program employs approximately thirty student leaders who are in good academic standing(minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA)

and judicial standing with the University. Applicants must have at least one year of undergraduate experience at UMass Dartmouth by the

Summer 2012.

1st Year Orientation
Leader


June Program              - $1800

Fall Program                - $ 750
 

2nd Year Orientation
Leader


June Program              - $2000

Fall Program                - $ 850


3rd Year Orientation
Leader


June Program              - $2100

Fall Program                - $ 900

 
You will need the following information BEFORE you click on the link to the Orientation Leader Application:

1.  Names, email addresses, and addresses for two references - References cannot be professional staff members (or
Orientation Coordinators
) associated with the Orientation program.  References should be people who have supervised your work and
can speak to your abilities and limitations as a leader or employee. Friends who can provide character references are not as helpful as professors
or employers.

2.  A completed resume - At the end of the application you will be asked to download your resume.  Resumes may only be submitted as Word (.doc or
.docx) files.

3.  Your credit/class standing information from COIN - What is your current GPA and how many credits have you completed/will complete by the end of
the Spring semester.
