Welcome to the Student Activities Board!

What is SAB?
SAB is a volunteer, student-run organization dedicated to bringing quality entertainment and activities to UMass Dartmouth throughout the academic year.

What does SAB do?
Together, the General Board and the Executive Board vote on the programs you want to see on your campus. Sure, we work hard, but we also have fun doing it! In addition, benefits include listing on a resume that you worked with booking agents, public relations, budgets, and your peers!

What's in it for me?
Volunteering with SAB is a great way to get involved in campus life. We are one of the largest student organizations on campus and you can't help meeting new people when you join. You will also be exposed to new and different ideas and learn to work as part of a team!

SAB Committees -- Take a look...one is right for you!

Major Events
The Major Events Committee is responsible for presenting large-scale concerts and shows on campus. The biggest event, and most popular, is the annual concert in the Tripp Athleti Center. Past performances include the band 311 with The Roots, Ziggy Marley, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, B52's, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes, and tribute bands: Ohysical Graffiti and Itchy Fish.

Publicity
The Publicity Committee is responsible for the marketing, promotion, and advertising of all SAB events. The commitee produces quality publicity both on campus and in the surrounding community.

Volunteer Security
Security is an important element of all SAB events. Students are encouraged to volunteer to provide crowd control and safety for events.

Social
The Social Committee plans everything from favors to food for the annual Spring Ball and other special occasions. This committee has to scout formal sites a year in advance, and last year's Biltmore Hotel in Providence sold out with over 500 students and faculty decked out for a night of dancing, food and partying.

Recreation
Sometimes you just want to get away from it all. The Recreation Committee makes escape possible by spnsoring trips off-campus to places like New York City, weekend ski trips, Broadway performances, and our annual Montreal Trip. In addition, we plan the film series and movie nights featuring recent releases in our main auditorium with surround sound ans large-screen projection.

Afternoons

Not all events at UMass take place when the sun goes down. Our Afternoons Commitee plans events to run during daytime hous when the majority of the student population is on campus. This includes solo musician bands, magicians, jugglers, and unique performers who entertain in the Commuter Cafeteria. All commuters are encouraged to join!

How do I get involved in SAB?

It's very simple. Just fill out the Reply Form below or stop by the SAB Office in the Campus Center, Room 207. We look forward to contacting you.

SAB wants to represent a wide range of ideas and interests, so membership is open to all students. These members, like yourself, make up the General Board, who then elect enthusiastic students to head these committees, called the Executive Board.

Anyone may attend our General Board meetings. Look for flyers around campus for meeting times and dates. if you fill out the Reply Form we will contact you. For more information about SAB, stop by our office or call (508) 999-8134.

Be Involved! College Is More Than Just Classes!
