Student Rights and Responsibilities

Legal Rights

Any student who is involved in any criminal proceeding is entitled to the rights the United States Constitution confers which include:

1. To be free from unreasonable search and arbitrary arrest at the hands of the Government

2. To have any court proceeding conform with due process of the law.

Any student who finds him or herself involved in any criminal action may obtain general information on arrest, entrapment, criminal court proceedings, pleas, Miranda rights, legal sources, and posting bail from the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
