"Today is a historic time to be a law student, for we have now become the first public law school in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts."
Tell us about serving as president of the Student Bar Association...
I was elected UMass School of Law's first Student Bar Association (SBA) president, a responsibility I accepted with great pride and humility. I worked hard to be involved with the university and advocate on behalf of the law student body. Looking back, I'm proud of the accomplishments the SBA has made, and I look forward to what the future will bring.
What makes UMass Dartmouth special?
Today is a historic time to be a law student, for we have now become the first public law school in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. I feel that this is just the starting point, and the potential for the future is limitless.
What is your message for future students?
I feel strongly that you need to work at setting yourself apart from your peers in your major or department. Join every association, club, or group you can. Network constantly with the need-to-know people in your field, research different skills and important qualifications that someone in your field should master, and most of all never burn a bridge—you never know how that relationship could open a door for you in the future.
Is there anyone you'd like to thank?
I'd like to thank my family and friends—these are the people who have loved and supported me through this process, who have stepped aside and helped my dream of graduating law school become a reality.
Specifically, I'd like to thank my parents. Without their continued support and dedication to my education, I would not be here today.
