"I like working with freshmen at Orientation. We can open doors for them to do things they never thought they could do."
How does your major fit into your life’s plan?
Right now, I’m a Resident Assistant (RA) for Chestnut, one of the four freshman buildings. I hope to become a Resident Director after I graduate, and then eventually work towards getting a career in Student Affairs or Student Life at a university.
Tell us about a great experience or opportunity you’ve had here at UMass Dartmouth?
The best experience I’ve gone through at this point in time was being an Orientation Leader this past summer. It was a life changing experience.
Tell us more about your experience as an Orientation Leader.
It’s hard to put into words. It was a lot of work at first, but it was completely different than a lot of other training I’ve had. We write "words of encouragement" for each other, and we put them on our doors so we wake up with these words to get us through the last session. On top of the training, we went to Maine for whitewater rafting and the high and low ropes courses. We built such a bond with each other. It was an amazing experience.
