"There are many financial circumstances . . . that often force students out of college, but thankfully, UMass Dartmouth offers so many scholarships that aim at helping students from every background. "

What do you plan to do after graduation?
I plan on taking a year off from my education in hopes of gaining employment experience. I have a couple of possible jobs--working as a secretary in a real estate agency and becoming an administrative assistant at the Census Bureau.

The second option fits into my life plan because it has a great deal to do with politics, and I hope to gain additional knowledge from the experience. Afterwards, I intend to continue with my education by receiving my Juris Doctor with the goal of eventually becoming a judge and a politician.

What organizations did you belong to at UMass Dartmouth?
I had the great fortune of being an intern at the Mayor's Office in New Bedford. It gave me great insight into the political realm, while also providing me with immense pride for all of the behind-the-scenes jobs I undertook.

This internship gave me the reassurance I needed--I truly want to be a politician in hopes of helping my local community.

What makes UMass Dartmouth special?
UMass Dartmouth is special in that it gives students the opportunity to participate in the community around them. There are several off-campus jobs and organizations that put UMass Dartmouth students into elementary classrooms and senior citizen homes with the aim of having a positive impact on those around us.

I personally worked with America Reads for two years, and I was placed in various elementary schools throughout New Bedford to tutor those students who might be lacking in specific areas.

What has been your greatest challenge?
My greatest challenge has been the struggle to afford a higher education. Thankfully, though, I have received much financial aid and many scholarships over the years that have given me the opportunity to fulfill my life goals. Without scholarships, I would be nowhere, and for that, I am extremely grateful.
Who would you like to thank?
I'd like to thank all of the scholarship donors who have helped me and countless others achieve our goal of becoming college graduates.

There are many financial circumstances and burdens that often force students out of college, but thankfully, UMass Dartmouth offers so many scholarships that aim at helping students from every background.
