"I have become the person I hoped to be. I'm confident in my skills as a leader and as a person."

What have you learned that has made a difference to you?
The most important thing I have learned is to be confident in myself. College was a huge growing experience for me. My group of friends, my experiences and my personality have all grown immensely, and I have become the person I hoped to be. I am confident in my skills as a leader and as a person. I am still shocked that people come to me for advice about life because people think I have all the answers, and even if I don't, I am able to help them see their situation in a different light. I never imagined I would grow so much in only four years.
What was your greatest challenge?
My biggest challenge has been financial struggles throughout college. Many days, I was not sure I could even pay my way through four years, and I did. Without my friends, I would not have been able to make it through.

I also think change has been a challenge for me. I used to hate change, but now I accept it and learn from it and welcome it.
What organizations did you belong to while at UMass Dartmouth?
Greek Life changed my college experience. I was involved in Campus Activities Board for three years and wanted to get more involved on campus and joined Greek life my senior year, and I have gained so many life long friends and amazing memories. I truly feel blessed to have met so many inspiring people. I have fostered many important leadership skills through all of the student organizations I have been involved with, all of which I know will aid me in life after graduation.
What are your plans following graduation?
I currently work for a non-profit adventure-based counseling program for high risk teens and hope to use that experience and my education to obtain a position with juveniles in trouble. I also might try to get a job in public service or in the government. And I intend to go to graduate school eventually
Who would you like to thank?
I would like to thank my friends, and my Iota Delta Nu sisters for making my experiences here at UMass Dartmouth unforgettable. I want to thank the women in the Student Affairs office (my other "moms") for making work fun and supporting me. Lastly, I want to thank my family, and most importantly, my twin sister Kelly for supporting me and sharing our lives together and my friend Dave for always being there for me.
