Can you describe the path that led you to UMass Dartmouth?
It has been my dream to earn my bachelor's degree. I was born in Angola, and my mother and father struggled to get me an education, something they were never able to have themselves. I later moved to Lisbon, Portugal, to attend school. When I came to this area, I began at BCC. At that time, I didn't speak any English, although I did know Portuguese, Spanish and French. I spoke slowly at first, thinking about what I wanted to say in English before I said it.
Two years after graduating from BCC, I started my career at UMass Dartmouth at the Charlton College of Business.

What you have learned from other students?
I've learned that working as a team is the best way to succeed in life.
What are your plans after graduation?
I plan to work as a teacher of mathematics at the junior high school level.
