Nathan Byrnes - Communications Director

Nate is sustainability's web and publication master. He is responsible for creating this UMass D Sustainablity web site as well as the Southeastern Mass Council on Sustainability web site and a new Green Jobs web site for Southeastern Massachusetts. Nathan publishes the Office's twice-yearly newsletter and weekly email Sustainability Almanac.

Jennifer Gonet- Administrative Graduate Assistant

Jen manages the Office's "Green Navigators" student group who teach their peers on campus about the importance of recycling, conserving energy, eating local foods, protecting water supplies, and other topics. Green Navigators lead campaigns on campus for sustainable lifestyles, and educate themselves about the future challenges of global climate and economic changes. Jen also works collaboratively with Nancy Lee to oversee academic enrollment in SUS courses.

Pamela Marean- Development Director

Pamela does much of the public relations and internal development writing for the office. She also researches and writes grants. She attends conferences to keep the office up-to-date on national sustainability mindsets. Pamela also researches and edits the Sustainability Almanac.

Thomas Paine - Project Manager

Tom manages major projects for the office. This work includes design and implementation of the University's Climate Action Plan, maintenance of the University's carbon account, and compliance with the University's various environmental reporting obligations. His work also includes program management for the Office's Energy Training Center, and technical advising for environmental and energy policy issues in the region.

Chancery Perks - Sustainability Educator Graduate Assistant

Chance helps to coordinate the Green Navigators and focuses on Forestry and Permaculture projects. As an avid woodsmen, Chance teaches students and community members how to live within the realm of balanced ecology and economy. If you have ever wondered about how healthy forests work, you'll have to join in on his forest discussion walks.
