About the Sustainability Almanac

About the Sustainability Almanac

The Sustainability Almanac is a free weekly e-newsletter that is received by subscription or by visiting the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Web site at www.umassd.edu/sustainability/news/sustainabilityalmanac/.

Our University Team

The Sustainability Almanac is a publication of the University’s Office of Campus and Community Sustainability, edited by Pamela Marean and created by Nathan Byrnes.

Our Sources

Contents are gathered from popular and professional online sources such as the New York Times, Science Daily, The Huffington Post, National Geographic, National Public Radio, The London Times, Mother Nature Network, and many others that turn up in our extensive searches for the most relevant and essential news of the week.

News Ethic

We choose our global, national and local articles according to their importance and timeliness, with a focus on stories that inspire knowledge-based positive action. There is much bleak news related to the challenges of sustainability, but the Sustainability Almanac believes that action grows from conviction that effective change is possible and necessary.

A Customized Version for You

While the Sustainability Almanac is currently designed to provide its local news and events for the South Coast region of Massachusetts, our team is available by contract to customize a Sustainability Almanac for other communities with research relevant to your area. Please inquire by contacting the Susan Jennings, Director of the Office of Campus and Community Sustainability at sjennings@umassd.edu or 508-910-6484.

Questions for the Editor can be directed to Pamela Marean at pmarean@umassd.edu or 508-951-3808. We welcome your comments and suggestions.
