Campus Eco-System
Operating a campus is similar to running a small town. There are waste management, construction, sewer, power, road, and housing responsibilities to manage everyday. As an institution educating the decision-makers of the future, we have a responsibilty to teach by example those actions that are low-impact and ecologically responsible.
It is our goal to increase each student's sensitivity to the environment by showcasing operational practices that promote sustainability—practices that consume less today and leave more for tomorrow.To both manage and exhibit the UMass Dartmouth campus as a sustainable community we have organized it into four manageable parts:
