Sudoku

Sudoku

Sudoku is made up of a 9 x 9 playing field with numbers from 1 to 9 scattered throughout. The object of the game is to fill every column, row and 3 x 3 box with the numbers 1 through 9, without repeating any numbers in any given column, row or box.

The difficulty level of the puzzles will change from week to week. Some will be easy. Some will be moderate. Some will make you want to cry. It’s gonna be a grab bag, so hang on.

If you get stuck, the answers can be found here, but don’t give in unless you absolutely cannot do it! What fun is finishing it if you had to cheat?

Horoscopes

ARIES
March 24 - April 19
You’ve been a real downer lately and everyone is avoiding you because of your sulking. This Friday night, you will spend it alone in your room, doing work that is not due for another week if you don’t smile once in a while.

TAURUS
April 20 - May 20
A big discovery in your life is about to take place. It will change your world entirely and eternally. This change could be dark or it could be bright. Right now, it looks to be leaning closer to the dark side.

GEMINI
May 21 - June 21
Thanksgiving is approaching and you cannot wait for good, old fashioned, home cooked food. Be careful though, because if you eat too much, you will practically explode. Eat in decent proportions. Then you can take some back to school with you and you won’t get sick.

CANCER
June 22 - July 22
Make sure you wear your seatbelt every time you ride in a car! You have not been following this law lately and if you keep it up, an accident may happen. Make sure all your friends wear their safety belts as well. You wouldn’t want them to risk getting hurt either.

LEO
July 23 - August 22
Stop skipping out on eating breakfast. It is a very unhealthy routine to have, even if you do not see or feel the negative effects of it now. Even a yogurt or a muffin in the morning will be rewarding. If you think you don’t have time for breakfast, stop at one of the food carts in the Liberal Arts or Visual and Performing Arts buildings. Under five minutes!

VIRGO
August 23 - September 22
You are feeling creative, but you don’t want to use that creativity to finish that essay you have due in a couple days. Take a break from homework and write a poem! Submit it to the Torch to get it published in the paper. This is a good outlet for your creativity.

LIBRA
September 23 - October 22
You’ve recently broken someone’s heart or had your heart broken. The situation is unresolved and you seek closure. The other person is not calling you. Step up to the plate and dial his or her number. Closure is not far away, just a big step.

SCORPIO
October 23 – November 21
The disrespectful things you said were wrong. Get over yourself and apologize for the awful words that came out of your mouth. If you don’t, you could find yourself wanting to apologize when it’s far too late. Don’t let yourself regret.

SAGITTARIUS
November 22 - December 21
“The Sopranos” is over, but it lives on through DVD collections. For the Thanksgiving holiday, treat yourself to one of the seasons on DVD. Relax all week and watch your favorite Italian family. Everyone at school will be excited with the purchase as well.

CAPRICORN
December 22 - January 19
The cold weather has been getting you down. However, the movies at the Dartmouth mall are showing for $5 a ticket Monday-Thursday. Get your friends together and go see “30 Days of Night.” The ending wasn’t all that great, but Josh Hartnett will make the cold air warm right up.

AQUARIUS
January 20 - February 18
You and your partner on swimming in rock waters right now and the waves are crashing down on you. The best thing to do is come together in this situation and let go of the past. You two can push through the storm as long as you are working together. The future looks bright.

PISCES
February 19 - March 20
Don’t forget to hide all your shot glasses before you head home for the Thanksgiving break. RAs do room checks and you wouldn’t want to get written up for something like that.

Poetic Perfection

We Met Last Autumn (Inspired by DLD)

The bitterness in your farewell
is echoing down this empty hall.
The scent of your cologne of fall
stains these discolored walls.
Autumn’s amber leaves
look as beautiful as winter’s dead trees.

Forgot to apologize face to face
and now, too much shame to say,
sorry… too far away to say,
I need you… and this night is so cold.
Hours stretch on with an ending
unwilling to unfold.

Breathe in the crisp, cool air.
Gently collapse, but you won’t hear.
We never did share much care
for one another like we pretended, dear.
Silence rings louder than my heart beats.
If only I could forget what your name means.

The hesitance in your hello
is carving my heart into sharp
little pieces, almost unknown
as they collide with the frozen ground. Dark
shadows dance as I replay your voice, your song.
There’s no hope for those who hold on
