Sudoku
Sudoku is made up of a 9 x 9 playing field with numbers from 1 to 9 scattered throughout. The object of the game is to fill every column, row and 3 x 3 box with the numbers 1 through 9, without repeating any numbers in any given column, row or box.
The difficulty level of the puzzles will change from week to week. Some will be easy. Some will be moderate. Some will make you want to cry. It’s gonna be a grab bag, so hang on.
If you get stuck, the answers can be found here, but don’t give in unless you absolutely cannot do it! What fun is finishing it if you had to cheat?
Horoscopes
ARIES
March 24 – April 19
Valentine’s Day has been a drag for you so far. It does not look like it is going to get much better, either. Everyone around you seems to be in a relationship or dating all of a sudden — everyone except you. Try not to let them bring you down.
TAURUS
April 20 – May 20
You and your Valentine’s Day date are doing the typical dinner and a movie for this special holiday of love. It will probably go over just like any other date would, unless one of you steps it up and gets creative. Why not talk about changing the night up a little bit before going out?
GEMINI
May 21 – June 21
It’s Valentine’s Day. It’s Thursday. You are single. Tonight you plan to have fun and not let those in love bring you down. After all, you are not the one who is tied down and constantly stuck in arguments. Have fun, but be safe.
CANCER
June 22 – July 22
You strongly dislike Valentine’s Day. It simply aggravates you to see all these people acting like they love each other just because of the holiday. You are wondering, Why don’t people act like this towards one another all the time? Don’t worry — the day will be over before you know it and it won’t come back for another whole year.
LEO
July 23 – August 22
Because you are overloaded with work and errands to do, you are not celebrating Valentine’s Day with your lover today. Celebrate it during the weekend instead; this way, you can avoid running into long lines at movies or restaurants or whatever else you may decide to do.
VIRGO
August 23 – September 22
Well, you and your boy or girlfriend recently ended the relationship, which is causing you to frown on this day of love and happiness. Don’t frown too much because someone fun, new and exciting is coming your way. Keep your eyes open for Cupid’s arrow!
LIBRA
September 23 – October 22
Instead of going out to the movies after a nice dinner for Valentine’s Day and spending all that money, revamp your plans. Rent an old favorite movie and order out, or cook for one another if you have the means (or skills!). Relaxing with your lover will be much more memorable and enjoyable.
SCORPIO
October 23 – November 21
Valentine’s Day is not as lovely as you’d hoped it would be. Your significant other is acting moody today and has decided to stay in and mope around. Do not get frustrated with that person; something may truly be wrong. Stay in with him or her and offer your ears for listening and a box of chocolates for snacking.
SAGITTARIUS
November 22 – December 21
It’s Valentine’s Day and it is the opening night for the movie “The Spiderwick Chronicles,” based on the fantasy books that you and your date love. This will be a fun night for you!
CAPRICORN
December 22 – January 19
Take a trip to New Bedford or Providence with your Valentine’s Day date tonight. The change of scenery will be nice and much more romantic than hanging out on this gray campus.
AQUARIUS
January 20 – February 18
You do not believe in the meaning of Valentine’s Day. So, your “regular” February 14 is going to go just fine, just as your week has been going. Take the time to appreciate how smoothly things have been flowing; the stream may get more rapid a little ways down.
PISCES
February 19 – March 20
Roses, chocolates, gifts — you are spoiled this Valentine’s Day. Try not to rub it in too much to your friends who are not so fortunate in love. This will only upset them more and it could turn into a bigger fight than necessary. Enjoy your lovely gifts, but remember they are for you and no one else.
Poetic Perfection
Feeling Alone in this World?
By Erica Mann
When you feel weak and cannot live on,
Let it out, cry
Look inside your heart and you will finally see
Listen to your instincts
Your day will soon come
Wipe away those tears
Remove all your fears
That dark cloud will disappear
Stay in your special place
Just dream and pray
You will see
It will come
I will be there as your guardian angel, your light
Together, we will guide the way
And your heart will see through the good and the bad,
The peace and love
Give yourself time
Don’t degrade, just follow through
And keep on dreaming
Imaginary
By Malissa Vieira
I find myself fading,
evaporating
from the person I once was
Nobody notices, I am a fog
A hallucination rendered
from water droplets and
a ghostly voice
A line is drawn,
a separation of species
A wedge in my life alienates me
from those I once loved.
I pull apart at the seams and am
released into nothingness.
I am nowhere
Nobody notices
Nobody cares
Vent
By Adam K. Ellis
So much in my heart,
So much in my head
But the booze in my body
Has got my brain near dead
I cannot sleep
I cannot run
Because when the sun sets
My sins cannot be undone
I’ve lived my life
For the moment
And for this moment
I have lived.
But when the bottle’s empty
And the night is done.
It is certain,
I have
Become my father’s son.
