Chautauqua, from an ambiguous Iroquois term loosely meaning togetherness, is an annual WRC-sponsored art festival which celebrates the creative accomplishments of UMass Dartmouth. Participants are encouraged to present anything creative which they would like to share with the festival's members. Presentations include the more traditional forms of art (such as poetry, short fiction, painting) as well as some unorthodox forms (as one participant once discussed a narrative he had been writing for a video game).
The entire UMass community is welcome to attend and to participate. Chautauqua occurs in the second semester of every year, typically in April. Participation is not limited to undergraduates; graduate students and even faculty members are welcome.
