Tutors from across the disciplines are available to help students with all aspects of the writing process, from idea development to polishing final drafts. In addition, faculty can request special arrangements, ranging from class tutors designated to work with their classes for a semester to tutor-facilitated peer writing groups set up for specific course assignments. The WRC welcomes any proposals faculty wish to make and will try to accommodate those requests.
The WRC has over 500 hardcopy handouts generated by tutors over the years explaining topics such as citation, comma use, and writing personal essays for graduate school. Faculty are welcome to take copies for their use. In addition, we have a library of textbooks and research materials that we are happy to lend out to faculty.
Every semester tutors visit all freshman writing classes to explain how to best use the WRC resources. They are available to visit any classroom requesting this brief presentation. Faculty are also welcome to arrange for an orientation at the WRC itself.
The WRC has a referral form which faculty can use to send students to the Center for tutoring in specific areas. Faculty can also indicate on the form if they want feedback on student attendance at the Center. Hard copies of this form are available in the WRC. The Referral Form is available online in PDF format.
