Matthew C. Witzgall is currently employed by the Department of Defense at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, RI. In his role as business operations specialist, he provides support for accounting and financial management, asset management, lean and Six-Sigma process improvement, and a variety of daily operational projects and long-term planning within the Infrastructure Division.
During his time as an undergraduate at UMass Dartmouth, Witzgall was a key player in founding the Collegiate DECA chapter, serving as a chapter officer for three years. He also served as an international officer for the DECA Inc. organization, where he assisted other chapters in over 15 states and three countries develop strategies for growth. His relationship with DECA continues, serving as a trusted advisor and mentor to current students. Witzgall also served as the student representative for the Alumni Association Board of Directors, was a senior resident assistant, and worked in the Charlton College of Business as student yield coordinator.
Witzgall credits the Charlton College of Business with providing him valuable experiences that have contributed to his success. As a student, he developed close relationships with both the late Chuck Charlton, and his daughter Stacey Charlton. He continues to spread Chuck’s messages of the school’s values and ideals, and encourages those around him to believe in, and value their UMassD education.
He plans to continue his education and pursue a master’s degree in business administration.
