The UMass Dartmouth College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) is a dynamic arts college offering 13 undergraduate programs, a Master of Art Education (MAE) degree, a Master Fine Arts (MFA) degree with a variety of specialities, and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program.

This program features traditional and innovative strategies and opportunities in curriculum design, educational issues, and reflective practices for the professional art teacher.

  • A 33-credit program for those who hold an Initial License or the equivalent in comparable course work, leading to a Professional License
  • A 54-credit program for students seeking a first-time post-baccalaureate Initial License and a Professional License
  • Integrates individual studio practice, scholarly research, and ongoing participation in the K-12 classroom environment.
  • Provides an academic, research-based curriculum towards the Post-Baccalaureate Initial Licensure, Professional Licensure and graduation.

Your degree will be grounded in the philosophy that significant achievement in the visual arts is the product of inspired conception, critical dialogue, individualized attention to students, and maturing skill. Each of these inspiring programs is a 60-credit, two- or three-year program of study.
