Colleen Sweeney

I am an Associate Professor & Vice Chair of the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Medicine at the University of California Davis School of Medicine. I also direct the Breast Cancer Research Program at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. I am a charter member of the NIH's Tumor Progression and Metastasis Study Section and I am an NIH-funded principal investigator.

On UMass Dartmouth Chemistry...

I enjoyed UMassD chemistry because I got one-on-one attention from my very dedicated professors and I had the opportunity to do research.

On the preparation that UMassD Chem provided...

Because I was able to perform research as an undergrad, I was more prepared for graduate school. If I had not had the mentorship of the faculty in the department, I am pretty sure I wouldn't have gone on to grad school. Neither of my parents had a formal education so grad school was a foreign concept for me.
