Spanish and French Majors Course Progression

Track A: Students Who Take SPA 201-202 (Intermediate I & II) During Their Freshman Year

General Requirements for Graduation with a Major in Spanish 
30 credits required in 300/400 level Spanish 120 credits required for graduation

  • Freshman Year: Before the third semester, complete SPA and 30 credits from General Education and Distribution requirements
  • Sophomore Year: Before the fifth semester, at least SPA 301 & 302, plus SPA 300 with completion of at least 60 credits toward graduation from General Education and Distribution requirements
  • Junior Year: Before the 7th semester, at least 4 more upper-level Spanish, including SPA 331 and 332, with at least 80 credits completed toward graduation from General Education and Distribution requirements
  • Senior Year: During the 8th and 9th semesters: complete an additional four upper-level Spanish courses as well as remaining General Education and Distribution requirements and electives.

Track B: For Students Who Take SPA 301-302 (Advanced Composition & Conversation I & II) During Their Freshman Year

General Requirements for Graduation with a Major in Spanish 
30 credits required in 300/400 level Spanish courses; 120 credits required for graduation

  • Freshman Year: Before the third semester, complete SPA 301 & 302, plus SPA 300, with completion of at least 30 credits toward graduation from General Education and Distribution requirements
  • Sophomore Year: Before the fifth semester, SPA 331 and 332 plus two additional upper-level Spanish courses with completion of at least 60 credits toward graduation from General Education and Distribution requirements
  • Junior Year: Before the 7th semester, at least 2 more upper-level Spanish courses with at least 80 credits completed toward graduation from General Education and Distribution requirements
  • Senior Year: During the 8th and 9th semesters: complete remaining Spanish coursework as well as remaining General Education and Distribution requirements and electives.
