 Colleen Sullivan Avedikian received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology in 1991 from Emmanuel College.  She earned a Master of Arts degree in Sociology from Northeastern University in 1993.  A native of Massachusetts, she has taught Sociology courses at UMass Dartmouth since 1996.   Her general areas of interest include public policy, labor history, working class studies, education, political sociology, and social stratification.   Currently she is campus organizer for PHENOM, the Public Higher Education Network of Massachusetts. PHENOM is an organization of students, faculty, staff, alumni and family members who work for or attend MA state colleges and universities. PHENOM calls for a quality, accessible and affordable system of public higher education for Massachusetts. She also serves on the Executive Board of the American Federation of Teachers Local 1895, AFL-CIO, Faculty Federation, and on the Arnold M. Dubin Labor Education Center’s Advisory Board.  She is a member of the Judicial Board at UMass Dartmouth and is a Faculty Advisor for the Pathways Program, an alternative admission program.
