April 1, 2002 Author Arthur Golden to speak at UMD Library benefit When Arthur Golden's novel, Memoirs of a Geisha, was published, readers and reviewers were amazed that a fortiesh white man could have written so convincingly in the first-person voice of a young Japanese geisha-in-training. Area residents will have the opportunity to learn more about Golden and his international bestseller at an April 28 author's brunch to benefit the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Library. The event, to be held in the university's Campus Center, will begin at 11 a.m. Parking is in lots 4 and 5.
